THE ROLE OF POETRY IN POST-THEATRE OF MILENA MARKOVIĆ

Abstract

The first part of this paper is a theoretical account of postmodern theatre and of the term“postdramatic.” Along with a literary-historical review of modern theatre and its aspects that influencedcontemporary drama, special emphasis is given to a monologue. The second part analysesMilena Marković’s dramatic texts from cultural, philosophical and linguistic perspective. In theend, themes and composition of dialogues and monologues are viewed against playwright’s poeticpieces, and syncretism of genres is acknowledged.
