REFLECTIONS OF VOLTAIRE'S POETICS ON NOVELS BY ATANASIJE STOJKOVIĆ

Keywords: enlightenment, classicism, motifs, analogy, dualism

Abstract

The paper strives to establish analogies in the motif complexes of the European Enlightenment and Serbian classicism through a comparative analysis of the two most significant Voltaire novels (Candide and Zadig) and two novels by Atanasije Stojković (Kandor and Aristide and Natalija). In order to illustrate the content similarities as much as possible, an individual interpretation of each work was carried out, in which the presence of common motifs was noted. At the same time, with reference to the historical context and the one-century delay of Enlightenment ideas in our area, the differences in their narratological transformations are followed.
